A good diner will have about three dozen breakfast items available 24 hours a day. There's nothing like a strawberry waffle with whipped cream at 3:00 in the morning to help sober up.
The meals will be anything from a grilled cheese sandwich to prime rib to some Greek dishes and some Italian "specialties" like spaghetti and meat balls. A diner usually has a few flavors of soup.
And if you still have room, it will have a dozen different types pies, a few cakes to choose from, and many types of ice cream sundaes and milk shakes. I almost forgot the huge cookies too.
And everything is available to go!
Here's a website of one of the goooood ones...
Now I'm hungry!

Nine times out of ten CRAP, and guess what the UK have inherited it, that's why every johnny come lately is walking around with girths like I don't know what, including the women.Seems ironic this country always seems to follow the trends from Uncle Sam, never anywhere like China or so where healthy eating is the norm.Thats why there is a helluva lot of F** B******s here and guess what the old adage it's my glands or alternatively the Govt dragged me down to Macdonalds/KFC/Burger King.

A lot of America is very diverse. The meal usually depends on the household.
For example, my family's dinner usually includes a lot of Mexican style food like, stuffed peppers, chilaquiles, and tacos. But if you were to eat dinner at my friend's house, they have things such as lasagna, burgers, salads, potatoes.
I wouldn't go as far as calling something 'typical' but traditionally, for example at a picnic or family reunion, the food usually includes BBQ, chicken, potatoe salad, cole slaw, rice, burgers.
Anyway, the point is, like many other places, the households do vary and sometimes they vary dramatically.

The meat of your choice, a salad, baked, mashed, or boiled potatoes, one or two veg. and bread. This is a home cooked meal. Most people are giving you answers for take out food. Most people only buy take out food when they don't have time to cook a meal. I'm talking about a real family meal, not kids who go out and eat anything.
