Right now, Glaus (Tor) is my Back Up 3rd Baseman... He was my main guy last year, did well... But injuries are uh-brewen

At the end of the year, I picked up Teahan (KC) to back up Glaus, and he ended his year very strongly...

Anyway, Teahan is looken good in Spring Training, and I'm wondering if I should pick him ups as a 3rd Base Back Up, as opposed to Glaus... Knowing full well that Glaus was, and has been an All Star Player... But, he's getten older, and Teahan's looken good

On top of that, I currently have Youkilis (Bos) as a back up Out Fielder, but he also plays 3rd base... He's a great player, but how often is he goina be off the bench

My question is, do I bring on Teahan as a new 3rd base back up, replacing Glaus... Or do I just ditch Glaus, and depend on Youkilis as 3rd base back up...

And if I do that, do I pick up Francouer (Atl), or Granderson (Det) as back up Out Fielder's, who are both doin well, and have potential this year?

Teahen, will be converted to outfield, which gives him more flexibility by midseason. Glaus should start as a backup. Teahen has more upside. He could hit .300, and possibly 30HR and 15SB. Glaus will be a better run producer with his lineup, but his batting average is an anchor. However, once Teahen is eligible, move him to the outfield and Glaus to 3B. As for Francouer and Granderson, pick Youkilis. Glaus is enough of a batting average liability and getting Francouer's or Granderson's .260 AVG is asking for trouble. Youkilis was hitting .300 for much of the year, and scored a bunch of runs. Batting behind Lugo and in front of Ortiz should help even more. His lack of power is made up in Teahen and Glaus. However, if the rest of your lineup is powerless, then take Francouer's 40-HR potential.

If it were me I would cut Youkilis and add Teahen. If Glaus gets off to the same type of season as last (I agree the injury thing with him is scary and the BA isnt very good either) he would be excellent trade bait. Plus Glaus is SS eligible in most fantasy formats so keep that in mind, there arent many 35 HR SS out there.Teahen is playing almost exclusively in the outfield so right now he is listed as a 3rd baseman but after the regular season starts he will quickly become outfield eligible also. So you get a great backup bat to cover 3rd and outfield who will outproduce Youkilis easily. Otherwise consider Francouer as an outfield option, he has the bad BA but should hit 30+ HR and have a career RBI year.

Remember that Teahan is playing RF for the Royals now, so he too will be a back-up for 3B & OF. I would keep him over Youklis in a heartbeat.

I live in Detroit and have heard great things about Granderson's selection at the plate. He had only 1 K in his first 30+ at bats. Francouer seems to have some good sized holes in his swing. Look at the stats from last year, paying particular attention to the second half after they were seen by teams. Both had a rough second half, but Francouer fell much further and still ended with a lower batting average.
Granderson is batting lower in the lineup with Pudge (yes, Pudge!) batting leadoff in many games. He'll drive in more runs this year.

Keep Teahen. I'm a huge Royals fan. He is healthy now and is tearing the cover off the ball. He will hit approx 25 HRs this year in the #3 spot in-between Grud and Sweeney. He steals a few bases, too. As a bonus, the Royals stuck him in the OF this year to make room for Alex Gordon. So he will be 3B and OF eligible in no time!

Also, pick up Francouer. He hits for better power and average than Granderson. Unless you need SBs and Runs badly, go with Francouer.

Good luck!

keep glaus around for no other reason than for name recognition and trade bait later in the year. teahen looks good (so does dejesus, and john buck...) but the royals' weak attack might not make him so attractive later in the year going against johan santana and justin verlander in meaningful games. if you can, keep glaus. those HRs are not so easy to come by in a 3B spot as they used to be.

francoeur could and will be a startgin OF, not just a backup, depending on who else you have already. but if your choice is between glaus and francoeur, keep glaus. you can ALWAYS find another OF later.

good luck this season!

It depends on how your fantasy league is scored. If you only get points when they actually play that position, don't use Youk as a backup for 3rd or outfield - he is the starting first baseman for the Sox. If you get points regardless of what position they actually are playing, Youk will do right by you.
