This is a problem we English have to put up with all time from our fellow Brits and Irish
We(English)see it as a sporting occasion and treat it thus,If we win we cheer winning a game nothing more nothing less,Equally we accept defeat for what it is .losing a sporting occasion.but the Irish,Welsh and Scots see winning a rugby or football match against a group of young men representing England as some kind of significant event mirroring historical events that took place years ago ,like the battle of Shrewsbury , Culloden or Bannockburn .I have even seen (after the Irish -Eng rugby) references to Oliver Cromwell and his NMA .
Ashton took his squad to Dublin and Cardiff to play a game of rugby .They lost they shook hands and walked off the pitch .
In football there is talk of the home internationals being resurected ,but why should the FA put an England team on a pedestal for the Welsh ,Irish and Scots to hurl abuse an bile at, blaming the English for there own personal failings while hiding in a crowd .
This does not happen when we play anyone else, the French don't harp on about Jeanne d Arc ,the Spaniards don't dredge up the Armarda defeat .
I think it's about time the Irish and other Brits joined the 21st century .
BTW The Welsh deserved there win ,but like England they are nowhere near good enough to win the World Cup which is what REALLY matters .
