If Israel didn't have nuclear weapons do you think Iran would be trying to produce some of their own?

Yes. It's not about Israel, it's about iran trying to become a major power in the area. They don't intend to actually fire the nukes, they know that doing so would result in their immediate destruction.

Iran is not trying to develop nuclear weapons. The most recent U.S. intelligence report has conceded that Iran is at least 10 yrs. from developing a nuclear weapon, but even then, they wouldn't have the capability to deliver the weapon. There is also no evidence that they're trying to develop one.
All nuclear countries produced nuclear weapons to deter war, not to attack anybody, and Iran's motive is the same. They're worried about the rhetoric of the Bush admin.
That being said, I think most ppl truly don't realize how small the Israeli, Palestian, Lebanon territories are. A single nuclear weapon dropped on Tel Aviv would wipe out all of of the Israelis, Palestinians, Lebanese and Hezbollah. At it's thinnest area, Israel is only 12 miles wide!
The nuclear cloud would blow in the winds another 500 miles, potentially devastating Syria, Jordan, or even Saudi Arabia and Egypt. Over 11 million Israels would be killed, along with 6 million Palestians, millions of Lebanese, and possibly millions of other Arabs, including Palestinian refugees in surrounding countries. Jerusalem, so important to Muslims, Jews and Christians, would be contaminated and lifeless.
Iran has no plans to nuke Israel.

Yes. Despite the deplorable behavior of the Israleli government recently, no san person would consider them irresponsible enough to use nuclear weapons except as a defense of last resort.

But the president of Iran is not sane--tha tshould be obvious. And he is among the fanatic anti-Semites tha tare determined to destroy Israel. So would he be trying to get nukes anyway--yes.

I think it has allot to do with Bush calling them a member of the "axis of evil".
Bush has invaded and occupied 1/3 of that "axis of evil" and another 1/3 has acquired nuclear weapons which has caused Bush to stop his belligerent talk about them.

Sure they would. They'd be doing it even if NOBODY had nuclear weapons. They want to dominate the world with their perverted version of Islam. We're all infidels as far as they're concerned, and under their version of Sharia, it's not only their right, but their duty, to kill us all!
