I know that within certain forms of art, nudity and intercourse are allowed, but I don't want to accidentally wander within the relms of prostitution, which I know is illegal in Ohio.

Film your "art" behind closed doors, perhaps on private property. Even if it is construed as prostitution, just be careful not to invite a cop or D.A. on the set during filming.

I've never heard of prostitution charges being brought due to the filming of pornography.

I'm not from Ohio, not even an american, but I don't think you would be prosecuted because you filmed a video in your property and privately, as long as you don't charge your friends to see the show you shouldn't have any problems.
