Any history? How did people who did gumboot dance dress like? HOw was the music? Did they have any characteristics in their movement? How do they combine rhythm and movement?

gumboot dancing is like folk music dancing. The folks wear what we would call rain golashes or billy boots. Those r rubber boots that u pull over ur dress shoes or wear with just socks, either way. There is no special dress, it's just country folks getting together and dancing to a fiddle and guitar. If u'd like to hear some gumboot music, get a stompin'tom connors cd with the song gumboot clogaroo on it . Great song, great cd, great folk singer from canada. ENJOY
