Recruiters see my resume on various sites (nothing comes of those)and recently one "International" company set an appt with me to discuss working with a "career advisor" for a fee, because I wasnt having success. I'm not going thru with it, but has anyone done this?

No and you shouldn't either. These folks are charging you for information/job listings they found at job fairs, job boards like Monster and Career Builder and the classifieds.

A true headhunter will never charge you but gets paid by the company looking to fill a position.

You made the right decision.

Good luck on your job search

Its usually a scam if they want money from you.. A genuine staffing agency will know from your resume and an interview how emplyable you are and will then get paid by the employer when they find you a job .

There might be some genuine advisors that could help you with resume preparation , interview practise, clothing, makeup and that sort of thing.

You should not be paying Recruiters to find you a job for any reason, they already get paid by the company they work for or the company for whom you will end up working for. You have to take a look at you resume and skillset and see why it wasn't working out.

I never have and I never will. Recruiters get a fee from employers for finding qualified employees. paying a recruiter then gives that recruiter a double ended payment.

That's a scam, and it's only time for you to skip on him.

If you have nothing better to do, waste his time and ask him to do some footwork to prove his worth.
