They have lived long enough to have found many uses for different sized rubber bands. Ever have trouble opening a bottle of Gatorade? They're awful. Need one of those wide, blue, rather small rubber bands that comes with your broccoli bunch. Perfect.

They can't stand to throw anything away because they're not confident that they will be able to find or buy one if they need it someday. Also it was beaten into their heads that you never throw anything away if it still has some use in it.
