Every products that claims to clean and shine the chrome---doesn't. They are dark and spotted with stains that wont come out even after several hard scrubbings with various pads and cleaners..

im thinking you may have cleaned them with something that may have taken the finish off of them. the chrome finishes are so thin, it doesnt take much . i used CLR in my tub once and my faucets were black just like you explained. i dont think you ll be seeing those things shine again

If you haven't taken the crome off you can use never-dull or simple green you can also use I know this will sound funny but good old coke a cola (the acid will eat away the dark spots if it is not because you already took the finish off)

i think Francis is correct you might want to try ( MAAS)polishing cream look it up( maas.com)

try vinegar, or better yet hydrogen peroxide
