You can do it yourself and get the most out of your money! Its is not a hard job, just make sure you use decent parts and pay attention to how and what you took off the car.
Decent parts aren't the ones that are the cheapest ones at the parts store. in most cases you are buyng wha the local garages install, had you taken your car to them for the repairs. Just go with a middle of the road (priced) pads or shoes, or stay with factory stuff (dealer) and you will be fine. The cheapies are just that, and the most expensive ones aren't always the best choice either.
Good luck.

Ok now you must look at what you want from the braking system what do you intend to do with the motor car. then make you dissension. but your best bet will be a brake specialist as this is your life you are going to play with when I hear the Question Brake up-grade this will only mean you intend to race then look at 50mm to 120mm cross drilled disks with a very good brake pad such as platinum series and if asbestos is not band in your state look at asbestos pads plus race pro callipers and brake BOOSTER with a very high grade of brake clutch fluid for (high heat) and you will have to up grade the brake lines as well for the increased pressure... if you do not intend to race with the motor car I have a well known saying ..DO NOT FIX WHAT IS NOT BROKEN.... be advised that high performance gear will increase the cost of maintenance as well. But I am all for racing big fan and I am in fact one of South Africans top Renault racing mechanics. so have fun if you have the (dough =$) to play with... thanks for letting me answer your Question

I used two of those you listed and started doing my own brakes after a near miss accident. In doing my own brakes I found that you save so much money you can just buy all new parts like rotors and drums, springs , pads and on one car I even replaced the hydraulic hoses all cheaper than the shop. One muffler shop said "who did your brakes" I answered I did and he replied "first rate".

I suggest finding someone you know capable of doing the job. You'll save yourself a lot of money. Most of those companies you mentioned do the same type of job, but they're always trying to find something else wrong with your brakes. Then they won't guarantee the work, unless you fix that "something else."
