Start your own ISP. if you leave your computer running, and you have a broadband connection, than you can download a program like XServer and use your computer to serve your webpage, or anyone elses. the .com will be your IP address. To find this click Start->Run, type Command, then type ipconfig. Then you might have to configure your firewall by typing http:// + Defalt Gateway # "found in IPConfig, configure your firewall for Port fowarding 80 is default, you can use 8080 if its being used. some firwalls ask for a port range, "open connections", I use 1024 - 1096 for plenty of room. now run the setup wizzard and whaalah you have yourself a free .com, with as much space as you want.

Yahoo and Google do have to pay rates to have publish content over the web and your Internet Service provider. So how do sites such as Yahoo and Google make money.

The answer lies in advertisement. Yahoo and Google own mas networks, all with adverts, and they make millions as users click the links.

I must also admit, once a company buys a good sever and software and pays to publish information over a long period of time, the rate and cost is drastically reduced.
