The average Caribbean man has traditional views on women. Women are expected to be good housekeepers, good cooks, etc. For example, the men expect their women to provide cooked meals at all times. The typical eggs, toast, and bacon US breakfast would not do and they don't believe in take-out and fast food even if they try it on occasion. This, you probably discovered already. The men also like to socialize together. It's not unusual for the men to expect the women to stay at home with the kids while they socialize. However, Caribbean women are becoming more and more educated and independent. With that, comes a sense of liberation where women are starting to call the shots both in politics and business. Still, it would be a good idea to spend some time there to see if you can accept the difference in culture before you make a long term commitment. If you are an American woman, who is used to being free, it might be a difficult adjustment.
