I always have to write the possible numbers the box could be in the corner of the square, and I always finish the puzzle but it takes me forever. What is a quicker way to approach a suduko puzzle.

If you get stuck, look at the answer page to see which number it is. But then it is less challenging. :)

There are a lot of different methods to determine missing numbers. Its is best to switch between them as different ones will be useful at different times.

There are websites that explain many of the methods.

One thing that might improve your ability a lot is to look at three boxes in a row (that is 1/3 of the entire puzzle) at a time. Its hard to explain without showing it, unfortunately.

Here's something that might speed you up:
whenever you're doing a gentle/easy, do NOT write any of those numbers down. If you know the answer, write it, of course, but no note-taking as you described. You don't have to have a great memory to do this, you just need to find those methods for solving for missing numbers that don't rely on the note-taking in every cell.

The quickest way I know is to cheat and use the answers, but I know that’s not what you mean. My hubby plays all the time and the same way you play. If you don’t like writing the numbers down, erasing, etc. you might buy one of the wooden Sudoku boards that use tiles or pegs instead of writing the numbers down. To me that would be easier. I hope to find one for him soon! Good Luck! ~-~

Just keep working at it--you'll find a comfortable way to solve the puzzles. You need to develop a strategy of your own and stick to it. I work in an office of Sudoko enthusiasts and we have different ways of attacking these puzzles.

Just stick to it and don't quit! They are soooo addicting!
