DSL is a high speed internet service that you get from your Phone Company. But it is limited to customers that are located close to their switching station. Contact your Phone Company to learn if they can provide service in your area.
Your next option is High Speed Internet from your Cable TV company. If you have one, they can probably provide you with this service. CALL.
Your next high speed choice is Satellite. This will work just great in remote locations. Check with Hughes Net at http://www.hughesnet.com It is a bit expensive, but WORKS great. Hey, and you can MOVE it to another location.
Good luck and Happy Computing!

DSL stands for Digital Subscriber Line. It is a much faster internet connection than the basic dial up. Dial ups are usually of the 56KB speed, whereas the DSL can run many times that depending on the level of service you select.
The only way of finding out if DSL is available in your locality is to call your telephone provider and ask.
If it is not available, you can see if your local cable provider offers it - just call them and ask.
Finally, if all else fails, you could go with a satellite connection - but these are usually much more expensive than the above.

DSL or xDSL, is a family of technologies that provide digital data transmission over the wires of a local telephone network. DSL originally stood for digital subscriber loop, although in recent years, many have adopted digital subscriber line as a more marketing-friendly term for the most popular version of consumer-ready DSL, ADSL.
Typically, the download speed of consumer DSL services ranges from 256 kilobits per second (kbit/s) to 24,000kbit/s, depending on DSL technology, line conditions and service level implemented. Typically, upload speed is lower than download speed for Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) and equal to download speed for Symmetric Digital Subscriber Line (SDSL).

DSL is "Digital Subscriber Line". Usually provided by your local phone company. It is not available in all areas. You should check with your phone company to see if you can get it.
DSL does provide faster access than regular phone modem access. Also, if you have cable, you may be able to use a cable modem if DSL is not available in your area.
