I'm trading
SP-Dan Haren
1B-Todd Helton
for
OF-Jaun Pierre
RP-José Valverde

I already have David Ortiz at 1B, and I am loaded at SP. I currently have 5 awesome guys. However I am weak at OF and RP. I am giving up more than I am getting, but i'm filling holes in my line-up. What do you think?

I like it. I mean if you have all those positions already filled than u r making a good choice.

Pierre is a very good pickup but it doesnt seem likely that Valverde will keep the closer job...he has lost it a couple times already. The D-Backs have Tony Pena as their closer in waiting and are very high on him, I cant see Valverde holding him off after the first month or 2. If you can, wait until the Marlins, Reds, Red Sox and Giants closer situations pan out and keep an eye on the mariners situation as well, if Putz has arm damage they will need a closer. In the mean time see if you can get a better closer for haren and Helton....you may find a taker. And monitor the Braves pen closely early on, if big Bob Wickman cant hold down the job there are 2 pretty good candidates waiting in the wings.

As for your outfield there are likely several good options on your free agent list...look at guys like Johnny Gomes (big bat who had to play through a horrendous shoulder injury last year, Carlos Quentin or Jeremy Hermida, forget last year the kid can play!). Several other youngsters appear to be on the verge of breakout seasons so monitor them and catch one early or see what you have to give for Pierre....if you cant wait or swing another deal then make this deal just to give you a better chance to keep up and cut Valverde if you need to later.

umm if you could just use helton at a utility, thatd be better then haveing jaun, unless you want some steals, but if thats your only guy for steals you wont win it much (i had him last year) and if you need a RP, but its never bad to have alota good starters
