I'm developing a site, and considering using paypal shopping cart and checkout. Cost is less than typical checkout systems, and the user doesn't have to have a paypal account. Just wondering if anyone has had good or bad experience with it.

Well, I use it on our site for subscriptions, it was by far less expensive than other solutions (at least to get started) the nice part is they do the billing for us.

I also have clients that use that method even with online catalogs and only a few instances of any negatives.

Some people wont trust paypal, but then they don't trust online ordering in many cases either.

The main consideration is truly, cost vs sales. If you start selling alot online (I think it is about 3-5k/mo.), then taking cards direct will be cheaper. Will the setup etc be worth it is one you'll have to answer for your own business.

Do be sure to read all the rules for paypal and follow them. You can get "burned" just as you can get hurt with credit cards, checks, etc.

If you only have one or two products paypals cart makes alot of sense to me. If you have a catalog of products you will need a catalog system to interface with the paypal system (oscommerce, CREloaded, etc)

Good luck and good selling.

Something that is good for others wont necessarily be fine for you. You yourself have to see the Pros & Cons of any system/products.
