The tank is TEN gallons(10,TEN). It is heated and well filtered. It has six fake plants in it and three clay pots for hiding spots. It has already been cycled and everything.

I was thinking about getting either some guppies or barbs. How many of each could I get and what could I put with them? What about a khuli loach or two? Right now there is 11 rosy red minnows in there that I am going to feed to my pihranas. They will be taken care of, all except the little one, he's cool.

Anyways, I was leaning towards guppies. How many and what other fish could I put with them? I do want them to breed, but will most likely feed most of the babies to my pihranas.

For mitchman's setup, what could I put in other than the otos and the gourami?

A small school of guppies, perhaps 1 males and 3 females, with room to grow.

What kind of barbs are you thinking of putting in? Certainly not tiger barbs, I hope. They need alot more swimming space than the amount alotted for in a 10 gallon.

With your tank, I would try this.

4-5 guppies, either 2:3 or 1:3 male to female ration if you want lots of babies, otherwise keep it even.
3 bronze cories.
2-3 otinculus catfish(might've spelt it wrong)
1 dwarf gourami

That might be a tad overstocked, but just so long as you do weekly water changes, it'll work out just fine.

BTW, if you disagree with my stocking plan, don't base your disagreement on the inch-per-gallon rule. That rule is stupid and should not apply to anything fish-related.

Seriously, if you get guppies get like 1 male, 3-4 females, and a cory cat or something to clean up the bottom.

I promise wait about 2 months and you'll have more baby guppies than you'll know what to do with! You can also go the cheap route and buy the uglier feeder guppies from a local pet or fish store.

Ok... you should probably have 1 male and 3 females. You could put other small tetras in there like neons and glowlights. Right now I have 3 neons, 3 glowlights, 3 rasboras, 1 male fancy guppy, 2 female guppies, 2 algae eaters, and 3 sunset coral dwarf platies and they are doing fine in my 18 gallon tank.

I'd leave out the barbs---they would destroy your guppies----------a real nice set up for your 10 gallon tank the way she sits right now would be tree pair of fancy guppies------two khuli loaches and two corydoras catfish

for a 10 gallon, id go with 6-8 neon tetras, and the inch per gallon rule is stupid, goldfish are filthy, and would require at least a 29 gallon alone. You could also go with 5 or 6 zebra or leopard danios.

you should get about 15-20 guppies at the most, although i dont see how they can't get eaten by ur pihranas as well, anyways, you should also get clown fish, rainbow fish, an eel or 2(jk), greenfin spotanus, and a whole bunch of other exotic fishes.. anyways, good luck!
