my friend period came on last week and she knew she wasnt pregnant, but she said last night she had sex (unprotected) how would she know this time. her period has already came so it wouldnt be a "missed period". so would all the other symptoms kick in...

pregnancy does not kick in till the next period so if she does get pregnant next month when she misses her period then she should get tested. By the sound of things both are you are fairly young. tell your friend to stop being so stupid and use protection pregnancy is not the only thing she needs to worry about. Why are young girls so idiotic now adays? It makes me so angry because what happens when she gets pregnant? who suffers? tell her to think about STD's and Aids.

You just have to wait for the next period. Even the test kits aren't too accurate til after two-three weeks.
Remember, a negative test is slightly less likely to be accurate than a positive. But waiting is the absolute best way to know. Hey, it's only four weeks.
And no, the other symptoms won't kick in that quick, usually. If they do, they could simply be stress related, and therefore not an accurate sign.

Well, you only have about a 3 day window during the month that you are 'fertile' and can get pregnant..it is 2 days before you ovulate and the day of ovulation. She needs to figure out when she ovulates..if she is on a 28 day cycle, you count backwards from the date you expect your NEXT period and that's when you will ovulate...the two days before this is your fertile time. IF she had unprotected sex 2 weeks after her period, she has a good chance of becoming pregnant..but that's about it. She typically won't get any symptoms until several weeks AFTER conception at a minimum.

GOT IT!!! She'll have to wait until she misses her next period to know. Some pregnancy tests can tell you 5 days before you miss your period, but the ones that you take after you've already missed it are much more reliable. For me the early pregnancy symptoms were sore and swollen boobs, but she probably won't get any of that for a few weeks at least.

People that follow Thrilr1's advice are called PARENTS. You may be fertile for only 3 days, but sperm can live longer than 3 days. Beware of false information like "The Rhythm Method".
