I was playing WoW, and some guy was amazed that girls play it as well as guys. I was just curious about how many women play.

i had met a lot of female players b4 i quitted, some of them sounded real hot on vent too. Most of them played wow because of their husbands or boyfriends.

My guild happens to have a lot of women in it. We have a lot of husband and wife teams as well. A lot of WoW players tend to be pretty rude and disgusting at times, so it can be hard to find a guild that is "mixed company friendly". I am proud that my guild encourages a fun environment with a lot of joking, some of the jokes being risque, but we are always mindful of the fact that we have a wonderful group of women that play in our guild.

From what I've seen, the "ratio" is in the range of about 1-to-5. At that rate, you're looking at... a million or so, at a rough guess. That's based on an RP server, though - other servers might have different numbers, which in turn will skew the overall.

I am always curious to find out how women started playing. i started playing because my ex got me into it. now i play with my boyfriend. we have side by side computers and play together every day.
i'd expect most guys get into it because of other guys but it would be interesting to know if there are any gilrs out there who started playing because a female friend of theirs played or if they were just always into video games and decided to try it out on their own

Yep. A lot of women play. I've been playing with my fiance since Dec '05. It's like our "thing", but of course we have a real life too:P
