I"m not sure where you got the "first ten days" constraint from, but anyway...

The only reason to turn it off in my mind would be to save the small amount of electricity that it uses when you're not using it.

If you have a good router attached to it and it's secure, why shut it down. I leave my running 24/7

You don't have to, but I can tell you there is really no point in turning it off.

They use a very minute amount of power.
