I have a IBM ThinkPad T30 with P4 processor. I would like to upgrade this computer as much as possible. What should be my plan of action? I appreciate the input! Thanks!

Your best bet is to ADD RAM. Visit http://www.coastmemory.com and look up your system. There are two models. The 2366-xxx series and 2367-xxx series.

At this point, I would buy TWO 512MB RAM modules to maximize your system. I would stick with Windows XP, as you might face some terrible compatibility issues with Windows Vista. But your machine will be GOOD with more RAM for a couple of years. By then, the BUGS will be worked out of Vista. This $120 investment upgrade to your ThinkPad will be awesome. You can even SELL your 256MB module back to Coast Memory for some CASH back. You might CALL 1-800-463-6679... they guarantee success.

Be sure to keep your spyware and virus problem under control. You should have an anti-spyware solution on your computer. I recommend that you go to http://www.download.com and get AD-AWARE and SpyBot Search & Destory. Install, run, update and scan your computer with both programs.

These are cleanup tools. Ad-aware cleans files, and SpyBot cleans the registry

Good luck and Happy Computing!

the only thing that you can upgrade is your RAM. turn your laptop over, open the memory panel, double whatever amount of memory you have. Note replacement has to be same type and speed as the original. (ie. DDR2 PC2700 533 mhz... replacement would have to be the same spec, only difference would be size 512mb versus 1gb for example)
