how can the government stop gang cultures ?

i just read about how the government has big ideas stopping gang cultures and i think these politicians have no idea sometimes....... i was in a gang in my teenage years so i know a little bit about the fun and more and i say there is "NO WAY" they can stop teenagers or men and women from being in gangs and causing trouble for fun and other reasons........ its part of the fabric of being noticed i say .... but , they got me thinking ..... what if they could stop gangs from grouping up and having fun and doing wrong or worse ...... what kind of things would the government impliment ???

I don't think it's even remotely possible without 1984-esque surveillence.

I expect it would become like communist Russia, with secret police, moles, a broad definition of a 'gang', and intimidating jail sentences.

I.e. it won't happen.

Know how to break gangs?

Simple: Forced/enforced religion with restriction on other sources of social interaction and direct, no-limits control by an outsider.

Basically, you're forcing a new set of behavioral norms (religion) onto these people who would have to do it to survive.

The only other real way is to create situations where individual efforts are rewarded, group efforts are punished, and violence between each individual is tolerated.

Not the best idea, eh?

A more practical and ethical approach is to take these people/gangs and put them to work doing something where they are rewarded for doing something valuable to society, antisocial behavior is punished severely, and the group norms are changed to reinforce socially correct behavior.

This makes these "gangs" a positive force and possibly self-correcting...

How about castration or other take away machoness ?

Crippling both for simply being a memeber of a group that supports preditory acts of violence for the pleasure of a feeling of dominance.

Or aggression for minor insulting behavour.


That support problemsic drug pushing or commershal reasons and repect violence and toughness.


Ie you join or support gang culture you get balls removes and get cripples so cant fight or hurt others then maybe solitary imprisionment maybe serving gays or girls.



Or labotomising or chemically removing ability to produce testosterone

start as they mean to go on get rid of the gang at no 10 the buck house then all the cops who form the biggest gang on neds you've ever seen (neds none educated deliquents)
