If I boot the machine in safe mode, keyboard works fine. When windows starts, numlock light goes out, and keyboard no longer works. Hear a clicking sound in the system unit when keys are pressed. Any thoughts?

Sounds like your keyboard is bad. If you've already switched keyboards and you still have the same problem. you may have corrupt system files or a virus. If you can, do a virus scan of your hard drive. If you don't find anything, then you might have to reinstall Windows.

Also, when did this problem start happening? Did you recently download something, visit a website or install software? All of these can be suspect.

Kick that keyboard to the curb and get another one.
