To do a System restore, first, shut downall programs you might have going. Go to Start Menu > Help & Support( Right hand column) & under PICK A TASK, click on System restore. It will get you to pick a date that is one of the ones high-lited on a small calendar just prior to whenever any setting got messed up or whatever. Click on a date, then just follow the prompts & when it's done, it will ask you to restart your computer to make the restore go into effect. You will lose no data or files etc, provided nothing is running when you start it. Hope this is what you wanted.

Well you don't have many choices. You can go to Dell and research on how to access the recovery directory that's already on the hard drive. It's a good idea to make sure that you have anti-virus and spyware installed. Also, I must give you kudos for thinking ahead and prepairing yourself just in case something bad happens. One more thing, make sure that you keep a backup of all of your personal data.

You can also look into buying a used copy of Windows. There are many online stores where you can find this.
