Should anything be done to lower gas prices? If so what ? if not why?

The question is, CAN anything be done? No, we can't do anything because it's in the hands of the big oil companies and we cannot do anything about that.

The market determines the price of gas. If we stop buying gas at the levels we are presently, the price will go down. Supply and demand is at work here. If we increase our supply we decrease prices. Drilling for oil in this country would increase our supply.
