Especially women with pictures of them scantily clad. I'm not gay or anything but I don't know who they are and am not interested in adding them as a friend.

#1: Some idiots who have no better use of their time just want to create a massive buddy list and brag about it. They're basically the real-life version of the people on "The Real World" TV series.

#2: Some sick-minded people will create MySpace account and post 18+ pictures on the pages and essentially have a robot program run the profile. They'll make friend requests and once inside the profile will advertise or even redirect you to outside sites which could easily have viruses or other malicious computer codes and software.

#3: It could be an honest request from real-life people. You never really know who's behind what screen name on there or even on here. For example, you could be someone I've known or met before or vice versa unless you really know who has what ID such as a friend giving you their screen name. But sometimes it could just be strangers just looking for new people to meet and chat with.

Just be glad it's not scantily clad men. It could always be worse. Roll with the punches.

Its because myspace sucks ***. Those "friend requests" are just ads for webcams and such pretty much. I get them all the time. Try facebook if you want a good networking/friend site that isn't coded like an original Nintendo game.

It's the same thing as spam email. They are just fake profiles with links to porn sites on them.

Myspace is working to reduce the amount of people who can do this kind of stuff. But for now, you just have to ignore them.

be careful. my husband gets them all the time, and he opened a profile without realizing what it was like, and the computer got a virus. almost cost us a lot of money to fix. now he just ignores them.

many people are just trying to get as many friends as possible, it's pretty pointless to add people you don't know. i would just deny them.
