Different parts of the engine reach durastically different temps. The hottest part of the engine would be the exhaust manifold(s). The hottest part overall would be the catalytic convertor but is not technically part of the engine. Temps at the manifold can easily reach 350F. Other parts of the engine are only hot because of radiant heat. The gauge inside the car indicates the temp of the coolant circulating throught the engine and radiator.(Gasoline engine)

Varies enormously. Most engines run their coolant temp at about 85 - 90 degrees Centigrade. The hottest part of the engine is the exhaust valve which runs at red heat (800degreesC +) and the coolest will be the carburettor which can be below freezing in some instances.

Diesel fuel doesn't burn until it reaches about 400°C, so the air inside the cylinders on a diesel engine reaches that temperature just before combustion.

The exhaust valves will be around that temperature too, with the exhaust manifold slightly cooler, but still over 200°C.

Engine oil can reach 120°C, and coolant will normally be around 90°C.

If your cooling system is working correctly then the engine runs between 80 & 90 degrees centigrade.
The exhaust manifold gets very hot as it is not cooled.
The gear box and other oil lubricated parts shouldn't get above 100 degrees centigrade or the oil will loose it's viscosity.

Once it's warmed up the water coolant gets to about 120 - 150 degrees C. I would presume it was a similar but hotter temp.
