Get a copy of your birth certificate. Your employer only needs to know that they are not employing you as an illegal immigrant.
Your birth certificate will say place of birth, and you can get a copy from the registry office where you were born for around £7
New legislation has just been just outlined whereby employers will be fined for employing an illegal.
If you were born here then you are not an immigrant at all are you! As a citizen the fact that you dont have a passport proves that you have been here and not that you have just arrived.

You are not required by law to have a passport. A birth certificate is a legal form of I.D. as is a driving licence and also a medical card. If you have a National Insurance Number, this in itself proves that you are elligible for work in the UK. If you do not have one, contact your local social security office, or jobcentre plus and they will tell you how to get one, they may get you to contact HM Revenue and Customs, I can't remember who does the NI numbers.
