I believe the new amphetamine rules reared their ugly head the second half of last season. That said, this is an excellent question. Boston has many apparent strong points. They also have some sketchy areas that MAY not bode well the 2nd half. New York has the best overall card, top to bottom. They also have the age issue(???). Tampa Bay could surprise and take the division(????). Even if they could land the Wild Card, Joe Maddon should get manager of the year. The Orioles have way too many ?????????? to be much above 500 in this tough division.

As a yankees fan, i think the yankees improved their team during this offseason. So i think the yankees could only get better. The Red Sox have also added good players to improve their team (lugo, drew, Dice-k). I think the yankees will win the division by 1 or 2 games and the Red Sox will win the wild card spot over toronto blue jay.

The Red Sox will win the AL East this year. The division might be tough enough this year that with the unbalanced schedule the Jays, Sox, and Yanks will beat up on one another enough that the wild card will go to the west or the central.

Boston will win the division this year. They have a much better pitching rotation... maybe best in league. Their lineup is tough up and down... the bullpen will be strong once again. Toronto will get the wild card... also having a good lineup and pitching rotation.. yankees pitching is too suspect in my eyes and Wang is out for atleast 3 weeks according to reports. And everyone knows pavano wont last two months.

If Bostons rotation is as good as people say it will be then they might just squeek into the wildcard spot. Horrible bullpens rarely win championships. And thats what boston has. the worst bullpen in M.L.B. The Yanks will win the division
