I can run faster than I have ever ran before without taking one step, I can go places that I never would have before and see views that I would run out of strength trying to see, and I have someone to turn to that will listen to all i have to say without passing judgement. That is the top three things that my horse does for me, despite the list being MUCH longer!

First and foremost, they offer companionship, in the form of pure and unconditional love, which they always appreciate in return. They offer protection. If a stranger tries to invade your home, they sense danger, and make their concerns audible, warning you that there's trouble. And finally, their benefits are emotionally therapeutic. Cats and dogs are often taken to nursing to calm the eldery, and offer them a sense of emotional well-being. A scientific study was even conducted, that proved that stroking a cat or dog's fur actually helps to lower blood pressure.

Companionship is the most common reason people get pets.
Service animals, like guide dogs, search and rescue, etc, are incredibly important to people.
And "typical" stuff like -cats catch mice-, -dogs chase off intruders-, etc.

Animals make great companions. I'd be lost without mine. That is my number one reason for having pets, by far. My dog, a German Shepherd, makes me feel safe. I know he would lay down his life to save me. The final reason, I think for me, is the entertainment. My cat, Sonny, is quite comical. :)

1. well at the end of the day when works gone shitty i grab my rat's cage and open it up and let them crawl out. and i sit on the couch, smoke a joint and sit with my rats and dog and cats and think at least these guys wont talk back :)
2. they get me outta bed on those "I just can't get up today" days because despite how lazy or sorry for my myself i'm feeling, they still need to be cleaned, fed and walked :) and once i'm up with them then i remember why its not so bad to be alive :)
3. there just my friends. i hang out with them, cuddle with them. teach them tricks :) there just better company than most ppls :) and they crack meup :) always doing crazy things and givign me funny looks :)
I love my animals, i wouldn't trade them for a million dollars

(1) Unconditional love, (2) exercise, and (3) at least a dozen good belly laughs a day .... that's what Harley the Devil-Cat and Simba-Zulu the zany Standard Poodle do for me.

He is very protective. He makes me happy when I'm down, and gives ME good excercise!! (When we play fetch, he fetches, but doesn't bring it back!)

I also honor dogs who guide the blind. They're amazing creatures, dogs.
