hand it in......it happened yesterday.

I drove up to the ATM and it wasn't ready for my transaction because the previous user drove off without ending their transaction. I pressed the button to make it work and their card popped out with receipt. I could have very easily drove across the street with the card and gassed up at the automated pay pump....i knew their bank balance because of the receipt. I didn't do it. The bank was open so I took the time to go park the car and take the card inside the bank.

Do you know why???? Karma is a *****!!! Nothing is worth stealing from somebody else.

I would hand it in of course. I have been known to go back to the shop when I've received 1p more than I should have in my change. That was when I was a child and it was my local sweetshop - 1p was worth a bit more then than it is now by the way.- The lady was astounded - she took the money but gave me some chews equal to the value - we're talking early 70s when you got quite a bit in 10p mixups and a comic might cost you 7p (Who remembers the Jinty, Mandy, Tracey, Judy etc? I loved the Mandy.)

If it was traceable like a wallet with cards in etc where the bank could trace the person then and it in. However, the last time I found a wallet, I had to go to three police stations to find one open so I don't know if I would bother again. If I found something that was not traceable like jewellry etc, I would probably keep it.

Hand it in because if I had lost something valuable (and maybe not even valuable but important, memory wise, to me) I would hope the person who found it would hand it in as well. I live in permanent optimism...

If there was ID i wld hand it in - of course . If not , i'd keep it but keep an eye n ear out to see if any1 was looking for it. Also depends where i found it -

without being too pessimistic, when you hand in found property to big businesess, if it doesnt get collected the staff keep it, especially if theyre contract staff,

anyway - What have you found ? lol

Good for you Lora! And you're right about the Karma thing^_^

I will admit, I might think about keeping it at first. But then my conscience would kick in. If I lost something valuable, I would hope that someone would turn it in.

When things get lost, it's because they were supposed to get lost. It couldn't happen any other way. So when you find something, you were supposed to find it, or you wouldn't have. Returning things to their original owners is a subversion of fate, and bears bad on the finder. So if you lose something and I find it, it's pretty obvious it doesn't like you anymore and wants to hang out with me for a while. And who could blame it?

A couple of months ago I wouldn't say absolutely yes straight away. Not that I would take it I'd just leave it if anything. But now after having my wallet stolen I know what a crappy thing it is to go through so wouldn't hesitate to.

I would make an effort to find out who it belonged to either by going to the cops and/or posting an ad in the paper or asking around. If nobody claimed it, then I guess it's finders keepers.
