My unit has the filter door at the bottom of the unit. I install the filter with arrow pointing up toward main blower. Is this right position or dose it really matter much?

The arrow shows the direction of air flow. If air flows from the bottom up through the blower and out of the furnace it should point upwards.

The Arrow should indicate the air flow direction, and should state on it or by the arrow, like FLOW ===> in the direction the air enters your A/C unit, or Furnace. The Arrow should always be towards no matter what.

The arrow refers to air flow. You should install the filter such that the arrow points the way the air is flowing. So, if it's a filter for your intake (where air is being drawn into the furnace) you make the arrow point at the furnace. If it's for the outgoing air that's heating the house, make it point away from the furnace.
