According to Wikipedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emancipation_of_minors

"In most countries of the world, adolescents below the legal age of majority may be emancipated somehow: through marriage, economic self-sufficiency, educational degree/diploma or pregnancy."

So, if a minor can get emancipated through marriage, how do we reconcile this with the Statutory rape laws that forbid sex with a minor? Would somebody that had sex with a minor escape being convicted of Statutory rape by marrying the person he/she had sex with?

It is a valid LEGAL question, on real issues. Not an issue about the morality (or lack thereof) of it all.

Dude: Actually it is. This is what it says about the US.

United States
In the United States, each state has its own laws regarding the emancipation of minors, and many states deem minors to be automatically emancipated if they marry.

Edited to acknowledge you additional comments:

In Seattle, it is legal to have sex with livestock. Doesn't negate the icky factor.
