If you have central air you could consider forced air heat, simply replace your blower with a forced air furnace, run your gas line to it and vent it, if not and you live in a ranch type home it can still be installed in the attic. If you don't have natural gas on your street you can consider propane as a fuel, if there is a gas main local to your home the gas co. will probably connect you free of charge. Generally the reasons for having electric radiant baseboard is that there is no gas available or the builder was simply "cheap". hope this helps.

Radiant heat is good for large open spaces. But not necessarily for smaller in-house rooms. Radiant heat warms objects in the room, and not the air in the room. Sort of like sitting under a heat lamp in your bathroom (or a motel/hotel bathroom) the lamp will warm you up, but not the air around you.
