My husband and I are hoping to get pregnant; we are not stressed about it (feel it will happen when it is suppose to) but I find it bizarre on why I haven't. We are "fairly" active. He travels Mon-Thur. On weekends, we have intercourse at least once - sometimes 2-3 times. I understand the day counting thing, but the weekends do not always align with this. So here is my question: I started my menstrual cycle on Wed March 7th. If he travels Mon-Thursday night, what would one suggest for me to get pregnant. I'm sure this has been answered 50 times on this YA community, but I could not find anything that applied directly to me. Please do not answer if you are male. Please do not answer if you are a female under the age of 18. Regardless if you are married or not, if you are under the age of 18, I am not interested in your replies. No offense, but I'm 39, and I could be your Mother - ha! Please respect my wishes. Thank you.

All answers are "best" so far :).
Can someone also remind me the deal on the count thing? Is it 14 days from the date of when I started my period. I know I said I get this part, but just want to hear it from experts (which so far, you ladies all get the expert vote cuz you know what you are talking about). :)

Try going to www.babycenter.com
They have a free ovulation calculator. You type in the first day of your last period and then it will spit back when you are most likely to be fertile. It's usually a 5 day window they give you. I thought this was extremely useful; I used it to get pregnant twice, and avoid getting pregnant in between. Good luck! Sometimes it takes a while.

If you and your husband only have intimate times on the weekends, I would suggest to try to have intercorse at least twice a weekend. I don't know what kind of underwear he has but if he wears breifs he can switch over to boxers. I read some place breifs can reduce the amount of active sperm the man releases, I think its because they are "snug"? You can also elevate your legs and torso afterwards for 10 minutes or so to increase your chances of conceving. If you are still having problems conceving after 6 months or so you guys can also go get a egg/semen count done to see if one or the other has a low count. Another thing you can try is having intercorse during your period. It sounds gross but I have heard it can higher your chances of conceiving. I realy wish the two of you the best!!

It usually takes up to a year from the time that you start trying.
I think that everything dose not have to be aligned and the moon and stars in perfect rotation to get pregnant. If you and your husband just have as much "time" together whenever you can then it will happen. It will take you about 6 Weeks to actually know if you are or not. I got my period for 2 months when I was pregnant and so I didn't know for about 9-10 weeks. Everyones body is different. As long as you are healthy and "active", it will happend for you!
Good Luck!

If you are truly trying to conceive go to the store or your doctor and get an ovulation kit. It will help to let you know when you are ovulating and help you to get pregnant quicker. Now of course it may not work the first time, but it will help to conceive. It is like a guideline. I hope this has helped.

check your cervical mucus on the days hubby is home. insert your finger in vagina and look at the color and try to stretch it, if it looks like eggwhites, clear witish and is very stretchy or runny than your at your most fertile so make love like crazy, lol. if it has no stretch and is tacky and yellowish you are not in a fertile state, but hey make love for the heck of it!! lol. also buy some ovulation predictor kits. that might help. good luck!
