I have had a Nintendo for many years and I am a HUGE Harvest Moon fan. I love it and play it almost everyday. I would like to get another HM game, and I have done a lot of web surfing trying to figure out which one to buy. I want a game that is a LOT like HM64, but different enough that it is still like a new game. I am thinking about getting Harvest Moon: Back To Nature. But I don't have a Playstation. What I want to know is if you think it is a good investment (or not), and also if I should get a PS1, or a PS2? Plus (if you have played both HM64 and HM:BTN) tell me which you think is better.

Harvest Moon: Back to nature is the best harvest moon made so far in my oppionion. I like it alot more than the one on 64. Infact I still play it everyonce and a while on my PS2. Its just one of those addicting games that you cant put down. If you were going to get a new HM i would go for that one. And get a PS2 while your at it. They're pretty cheap now that the PS3 is out, and i think there are 2 more HM games for the PS2! So, the fun will never end, you finish with one game and you can jump on to another!!

Personally, I prefered Harvest Moon 64 and I wish I still had my N64 so that I could play it!

Currently on my Playstation, I am playing Harvest Moon: Save the Homeland and it is pretty good. There are several different HM choices for this system, which is nice. If you do decide to get a Playstation, go for a PS2. This will play all the PS1 games as well so you will have a ton of options as to what to play. I love my PS2 and the variety that it brings.

Happy gaming!

All harvest moon games are similar. Harvest moon 64 is one of the best ones, although it is more difficult. I would for sure play harvest moon 64 first. Some of the newer ones aren't as good and you tend to get burned out on harvest moon after playing one game through. Only drawback to 64 is there is really no cooking :/

By brother says:
Try playing Harvest Moon Friends of Mineral Town. It is basically the remake of Back to Nature, except it has been formatted for GameBoy Advance (GBA) with a few minor adjustments, such as no puppies nor tomato festival.
PS1 is less expensive, but PS2 has better graphics, so the choice is based on what you prefer, but I think you know that since you've been doing some research on your own.

GBA + the game is a lot less expensive than PS2.

I like Back to Nature more because even though you don't have the wilderness as 64 have, there's more characters for you to interact with anytime--meaning you don't have to wait for an event to happen.

GBA is way less expensive & you get about the same
