This has already been proven in Jeph Loeb's Hush. Superman may have been under Poison Ivy's spell, very much able to kick Batman's behind, very slowly he did. Batman however had Catwoman send for a non-kryptonite Achilles heel: Lois Lane was held hostage. Batman then swiftly stuns the man of steel, quickly ending the battle. But that's Loeb's story.
This, however, is a very valid question. You would have to know the psychology of the characters.
Superman can instantly kill batman. He could break bruce wayne's neck with his speed. But he wouldn't because deep down inside he's a good person. Plus, he did give Batman the ring with the kryptonite. That's enough for Batman to screw Superman up. And face it, Batman has the gadgets to destroy Superman. He doesn't of course because Superman's also an asset to Batman's little crime fighting games.
But if they were truly to fight, I'd bet they'd kill each other off. He'll break Batman's neck after the other had injected some kryptonite based serum or something. If superman blows his icy breath on the bat, that would simply be an opportunity for Batman to show off some gadget from his utility belt.
My point is, if they fought like Greek - no utility belts, no kryptonite, no loin clothes if you would prefer - superman could instantly snap batman's neck - but he wouldn't because, in a way, his greatest weakness, after kryptonite and his whiny reporter wife, is that, well, he's "a good person".
(Batman, though, in the other hand, deep down inside, isn't. Even in JLA, it's comes out rather natural that Batman's the chess player and Superman's treated as King but that's just a glorified piece. I find it interesting that Batman's the 'part-time' member BUT he's JLA's strategist.)
(Batman's my favourite superhero, though, of course I've made it too obvious. Good lord, I've embarrassed myself, haven't I?)

Superman
.
This is the most ridiculous and over-rated fight in all of comics. Batman is cool and all but he's not a god. Nor does he have super powers. I know people whine and complain about Superman being too powerful. However, consider a few things.
.
Somebody has to be at the top. Why not him? Besides, others are up there with him. Since John Byrne rewrote Superman in 1986, others in the DCU have been able to bang right with him.
.
SHAZAM has always been on Superman's strength level.
Wonder Woman can give him a good fight
Martian Manhunter can also give him a good fight
Black Adam, Orion and Captain Atom are also a few
.
Since the revamp of Superman, Marvel has cranked up the power level of most of the Mutants and many of their other heroes.
.
Batman is cool but this ridiculous idea of him beating Superman is just foolish. There are one or two ways Batman can win and we've seen those ways. It's cool that he's so smart and has all the answers. But it's just stupid the way the story is written most of the time.
.
Superman suddenly becomes so clumsy and unbalanced. I get that Batman has Kryptonite. In fact, I like the idea that only a few people have it, Lex being one of the few others. That was one of the best things Byrne did in the new DCU. In Pre-Crisis days, every dime store crook could get his hands on Kryptonite.
.
You'd think that, once Batman used Kryptonite to beat Superman, it wouldn't be so easy to do it again. I get that Clark is a bit of a boy scout but he's not THAT damn stupid.
.
Remember the old Superman vs Flash races? It's now, FINALLY been established that Flash runs faster. Now we don't see those races often because they make no sense.
The same should apply to a fight between Batman and Superman. Batman logged a few wins but the idea of a Superman vs Batman fight should just be dead. .. I hope DC can move on to something else once the movie is over.

It's pointless. Superman is pointless -- he's too powerful and therefore pretty much uninteresting.
Batman couldn't even use a stapler to stick a piece of paper to Superman's head 'cause he's invincible. He can't even be scratched by a frickin' speeding freight train colliding with his HEAD, how could he pierce even one layer of skin with a measly staple?
Batman would need Kryptonite obviously, because that is Superman's only weakness along with the curse of aging.
But then the question is not Superman vs Batman but more correctly, Superman vs Batman & Kryptonite.

batman would win because kryptonite is all it takes to hurt superman, plus, batman is more logical in his fighting style until superman who seems to fight from the hip so to speak.
my favortie is superman tho' because i like that he actually gets some action and doesn't over think everything like the batman.

thats a silly question... everybody knows the winner is and always will be batman
why? because bats is resourceful and knows the weakness of superman and everyother dc character
any hero whos special power and abilites can be used for evil
wolverine (regeration and retractable claws)
shadow cat (intangibility)
firestar (microwave emissions)
mr. fantastic (stretchability)
sue storm (invisibility)
hulk/thing/thor (super strength [plus hulk can leap for miles at a time])
captain america (boomerarng shield)
punisher (weapons)
spider-man (wall crawling, spider-sense)
mandarin (rings)
apocalypse (longevity and morphing ability)
darkseid (able to adapt to any situation)
batman (resources)
there are more but these were the ones that came to me first

Superman is like a firefighter. Handling emergencies and ensuring public safety.
Batman represents the police officer type, tracking down the criminals. While also ensuring public safety.
Both are important and needed, and work together. No more of this "Which one is better" nonsense.
