This isn't a nightmare - its a true story (unfortunately!)

We got our first computer at school when I was quite young. I knew it cost a lot of money and was always a bit scared using it.

One day I couldn't do PE for some reason so I was allowed to work on the computer while the rest of the class were in the assembly hall doing indoor PE.

I did something on the computer and lost all of the desktop icons. I was that scared I'd broken it and would have to pay for it that I actually screamed. Out loud. To the point that the teacher and the rest of the class came running back to the classroom!

How silly did I feel?! Especially when the teacher fixed it in the click of a mouse. My friends from school were still laughing about it when I last saw them - years ago!

And I haven't gotten any better with technolgy since! Bless.

I have a Dell - purchased around Christmas.

From the moment It went up - I set up Netzero Dial up - just to get all certifications and upgrades downloaded. The Netzero froze my system solid.

I could not Ctrl+alt+del, I couldn't push the power button and make it disengage, Esc didn't work -- NOTHING. I had to commit the cardinal sin of computing and UNPLUG the computer!! (Yup, nothing like attempting to wreck your heads first try out.)

Whenever I went online - I froze... but this time I could push the power button and it would shut down.

As soon as I researched everyone's provider services - I chose ATT/Yahoo's DSL service. POOF! There went Netzero.

My family has had my phone number since 1947. The lines in THIS house were moved and installed in 1961. It took ATT two weeks for them to get the equipment installed at their transfer station to modernize my line for the DSL order.

Once up - I repeatedly had difficulty with my browser not responding. I was eventually told by a tech in India that Microsoft Browser 7 didn't work with Yahoo... so I would have to uninstall it.

When I went to uninstall - the computer listed all programs that were downloaded with 7 and therefore would not work once it was uninstalled. It was everything I ever had from day one. No way was I uninstalling it!!!

I've talked to techs in Panama City, Panama - Punjab, India - the States... I've e-mailed and live chatted - and conferanced... I've run anti-virus, cleaned my cache, defragmented, run fix programming with techs down at machine language level, I've debugged, uninstalled and reinstalled til I was blue in the face.

I called for an onsite tech. ...(I deserve an academy award for not once expressing myself in less than lady-like terms...)

He spent five hours revamping my home lines, putting in a new jack, splitting my security system, checking lines in the house, house to pole, pole to transfer station, replacing the modem, hooking his laptop up to my lines -- confirming that there still was no browsing capability coming through my lines...

He finally hooked up from the transfer station while conferancing with three other techs - and found the circuit boards were burned out at the station.

They said they had never seen such a thing before.

...I'm sailing freely now.

Rough three months with evey tech available telling me it was because I'm a novice and don't know what I'm doing... and it was al the phone company's fault to begin with.

Deep sigh.
I hope YOU have peace... I finally have some!

Haha, yes. I had a nightmare recently that we came back home from shopping and our house's alarm went off. I was so worried about my laptop being stolen. The burgler got away with a handful of stuff, but we couldn't go after him. I ran to the window, hoping against hope my laptop was still there. My sister's was lying in front of the window in the flowerbed, but mine was still safe inside. I was so relieved.
Silly, isn't it? I got freaked out because it felt so real, and I would be lost without my laptop! >_<

I once had a nightmare while sleeping about that when I try to shut down my computer it would count down, then show a bright red screen which I call "Red Screen of Death"! "RSoD" as for short with unclear letters written across the semi middle screen with a picture of girls in the background (which scared me to death in my dreams)! My 2nd dream was still count down, but with a hero falling into a volcano! (Really scared the life out of me)!-S
