I wasn't sure what to put this in so I'm puttin it in bunches of places... But I need help really bad. I was chatting with a friend on yahoo, and she jokingly said she was going to kill me, so I said I'd bring the knife for her to do it... so as a joke i brought a pocketknife to school (bad joke, I'm getting that now) and showed it to her (blade closed). of course she laughed, but anyways... another friend took it and put it in his pocket (I had a hard time explaining to the office why I let him, but he's a good friend & i knew he would return it anyways). But anyways he got the knife, and then a couple hours later another friend in our little circle kicked him in the balls... and he drew the knife on him, in class, blade still closed though. whether it was an accident or not is open to interpretation, but anyways another student saw it and got scared and told the principle... and one way or another they figured out it was my knife.will continue w/ an add-on.

ok well anyways.... they figured out it was my knife and called me down to the office, had a chat, etc., they don't beleive I need to be expelled because they know me and my friend well enough to know that there was no intent to harm anyone, but by law there has to be a hearing with the school board. I know for a fact that if i heard this story - and saw the knife, it's a serated edge army pocketknife, big one - that i would think the personthat brought it was violent and would need to be expelled. What could i do to convince them otherwise? please help, I'm writing a report now on how i understand with all the school shootings and stuff the restrictions on weapons, but i need some suggestions... please... my school career depends on this.

people here seem to be generaly saying accept the consequences of your actions... I've already accepted them, suspension for 10 days and being reffered to law enforcement is the mandatory punishment, but now I have to convince the school board that i did not intend to harm anybody with the knife (as long as they understand that i didn't intend to and that i won't bring a weapon again, they will let me go with the punishment i've already taken) but i won't be aloud to attend the hearing personaly, so i have to convince them with a report that i didn't intend to. Anyone who knows how to write a convincing report could do it with the backing that i have from the superintendents and teachers who know me, but i am horrible with reports and so I don't have very good chances, what I am asking for is some ideas of things to put in the report

okay i've been told to elborate... i was talking over yahoo with my ex, she said she was going to kill me, i said i'd bring the weapon for her to do it with, i brought it, showed it to her, she laughed, Carl took it and put it in his pocket, i didn't mind because he is my friend and i didn't have anything left to do with it anyways sense i'd already done the joke, he got hit in the nuts, supposedly he was fiddling with it in his pocket when he got kicked and when his hands came out it was in them, he kept it closed the whole time, someone told the office, somehow they found out it was my knife, they brought me in, padded me down, asked more questions than i've ever been asked in my life, i answered them all honestly, even the ones that would incriminate, me, and they knew it so all the teachers are on my side, but most are against my friend, there is a hearing in 9 days and i have to make a report good enough to convince the board that i understand the consequences of my actions.

1. Is it permitted to bring a knife to school?

2. Did you bring a knife to school knowing it was not permitted?

3. You are responsible.

4. Live with the consequences of your actions.

I sounds like the people most directly involved (principal, et al.) believe you weren't intending the knife be used.

Be contrite, emphasize how you NOW understand there was nothing funny or trivial about bringing the knife, and especially letting someone else take it.

At the time you didn't see any harm, since you didn't intend it to be used, but you now see what a nimrod you were being.

But, hey. It IS a serious matter, you WERE doubly irresponsible (for bringing it and for letting your "friend" take it), so they may well want to make an example, so others also take this issue seriously.

Basically, all you can do is "throw yourself on the mercy of the court" -- as it were.

And I don't think that "friend" is any friend of yours. Although he didn't use the knife to actually hurt or kill, he DID use it to threaten and intimidate -- which is simply wrong. (I know, so what the thug who kicked him, which ALSO isn't funny, but that wrong doesn't excuse the other.)

See what girls get you into! You're pretty much screwed, so you need to go all out here, and maybe you'll be alright.

Send a copy of that report to as much board members as you can, and try to make sure that you're head has one present at the board.

You're going to be a model student up until the meeting, and convince all of you're teachers that you are the best student they have ever had. Tell them you have thrown the knife away so you can't do more stupid **** with it.

The friend who drew the knife is a ****ing idiot. Don't trust him or whoever gave it to him with anymore of your ****. In fact, try to distance yourself from your mates for a while, until it blows over.

It would help if you told us what you told the teacher, as you might be able to "elaborate" your story to help a bit.

What you did was wrong. It was a rule for school-no weapons, yet you brought one. Even though it was someone else who did the actual pulling of the pocket knife from his pocket when he was attacked, you got the pocket knife to school and you must be responsible. You are in a grown up world now and playing by grown up rules.

Stupid is as stupid does...
Just tell them what you told us, kids do stupid things. Tell them you have no intent of harming anyone, and you'll never do it again. However, if they let you back in, I'd be surprised, given the size of the blade. What do your parents say? Tell them you'd be willing to talk in front of classes about your incident, to warn kids never to do this. Do you know any cops? Ask them what you can do. Tell them you'll do community service. Really, you need to know what THEY want, then you can tell them what THEY want to HEAR>
