With Virgin we are currently paying approximately £70 for TV phone and internet, and thus are considering moving to Sky wherby we found out it will only cost us £47 for a very similar package we already have. But before moving we just want to know has anyone successfully threatened Virgin that they are leaving and got their TV/Broadband/Phone package drastically reduced?? We have just tried calling Virgin but the department has closed now so have to wait til Monday!!

Hi there

We are moving to sky because of virgin media's prices. We were paying £80 a month for the tv package with over 100 channels, unlimited day and night calls and 4 megabit broadband. We also have the recordable set top box. Sky will do all that for £41 a month, plus £11 a month ro BT. So we'll be saving nearly £30 each month. They did say that they would lower their prices when we told them we were leaving and we were then not sure what to do. We nearly changed our minds and stayed with virgin media.

My brother got 6 months free having complained that he was loosing all the channels he wanted such as the series "Lost" etc.
So try and stand your ground make excuses emphasise that you did watch all the channels lost and haggle!!
When it used to be NTL I noticed not one person was paying the same price as me!
I would say to those who are with Virgin stick with it for awhile Sky are going all out to grab the customers but Richard Branson will not put his name to something that goes bad and he is refusing the charges because he thinks the customers are being ripped off and now I believe the monopolies commission is investigating. So prices may have to come down a lot and Sky may have to give up certain rights etc.
Good luck everyone.

I got a better deal just before virgin took over. There was a bloke advertising NTL full package for £30 he told me to phone I did & have now got it for £42.I would phone them & ask.I moved from sky after being with them for 15 years they are a rip off once you have your equipment for a year if anything goes wrong you have to pay to get it repaired or take out insurence.
