I have just returned home to see a full sized fire engine driven by one man.....with another man posting flyers through the doors. Isnt this a total waste of tax payers money. Where is the mentality of people who run these services.???

surely this is a worthwhile cause if it makes just one family think about fire safety in there home that maybe one day save their lives.

Would you rather they sat about and waited for a fire to start, or be out there promoting fire safety?.

And no, I am not a fireman

Its now part of the Fire Brigades brief to go about promoting community fire safety so they do things like hand out flyers and fit free fire alarms. The reason they take the fire engine is incase they get a call out. Firemen get paid reguardless if they are sitting in a fire station or out giving leaflets so whats the problem?

There probably has to be 2 men in the truck at all times? Not sure why the didn't use a regular car, unless it was to gain publicity and support. Kids love to see the truck. Either that, or if a call came through, they had to be close to the truck so that they could respond quickly.

I'm surprised that they would use a fire engine for that. What if it was need to save somebody!!
