Many people are divers but that is not their career.

Many people actually do go underwater for a living, but they are not there to study the ocean. (They can be workers on all sorts of underwater structures, repair or clean boats, etc.)

So, no, not neccesarily.

I totally agree with the last person. A diver could be anyone. Just because I scuba dive doesn't mean I'm studying anything. I can dive in fresh water, mountain lakes, blue hole, etc. These are not oceans. Anyway, the answer as a whole is still no. However, a diver could have a career in oceanography as well. I think this is one of those if A sometimes equals B and B sometimes equals C then A = C is false.
