There are dozens of reasons.

The traffic on your Internet provider could be high - and therefore slow...

Your computer may have a virus, have too much used memory, may need to be defragmented, may have too much in the Internet temporary files... etc. etc.

Mine was giving me nightmares until I had the phone company come out and trace the lines. They finally found that equipment in their phone transfer station was at fault. (I have DSL.)

If you have dial up - it will always be slow during high traffic times.

Run a current anti-virus, clean out your cache, check to see if you need to reconfigure fragmented files, run a check for problems to existing software that allows the computer to fix problems, and contact your provider's tech support to see if they are experiencing trouble.

I have a Dell too, hon... use their system check to make sure you have sufficient space open to run your Internet work. (That funky little sideways "E" on the lower tool bar.)

I hope a real computer expert can answer you - I'm just a novice... but I've had my problem finally fixed with the equipment repair. I hope you can find resolution too.

Peace.
