I wasn't sure what to put this in so I'm puttin it in bunches of places... But I need help really bad. I was chatting with a friend on yahoo, and she jokingly said she was going to kill me, so I said I'd bring the knife for her to do it... so as a joke i brought a pocketknife to school (bad joke, I'm getting that now) and showed it to her (blade closed). of course she laughed, but anyways... another friend took it and put it in his pocket (I had a hard time explaining to the office why I let him, but he's a good friend & i knew he would return it anyways). But anyways he got the knife, and then a couple hours later another friend in our little circle kicked him in the balls... and he drew the knife on him, in class, blade still closed though. whether it was an accident or not is open to interpretation, but anyways another student saw it and got scared and told the principle... and one way or another they figured out it was my knife.will continue w/ an add-on.

ok well anyways.... they figured out it was my knife and called me down to the office, had a chat, etc., they don't beleive I need to be expelled because they know me and my friend well enough to know that there was no intent to harm anyone, but by law there has to be a hearing with the school board. I know for a fact that if i heard this story - and saw the knife, it's a serated edge army pocketknife, big one - that i would think the personthat brought it was violent and would need to be expelled. What could i do to convince them otherwise? please help, I'm writing a report now on how i understand with all the school shootings and stuff the restrictions on weapons, but i need some suggestions... please... my school career depends on this.

ummm... as an answer to the first answer... the reason the teachers are going to side with me on the hearing is that i was honest about it.... besides that I'm a horrible liar

I shouldn't have put this in psychology >_< a proffesional counselor isn't going to help me not to get expelled... and i'm not a psycho or anything... how many people do you see at school every single day with pocketknives? i go to a small school and i'd say 1 in 5 guys brings a pocketknife, army or not, to school everyday. just because i did doesn't mean i need mental help i just need help convincing the board that I'm not a dangerous person so that i can stay IN school and stay OUT OF the newspapers.

Just be honest and own up to everything... believe me, the hearing people will be very impressed with that and not trying to make stuff up as you go along. (I have a background in Clinical Psychology and, believe me, a trained listener can spot a made-up story about half a second after it starts to come out of a person's mouth... one hint: stuttering from a person who usually doesn't stutter). The idea that it was a big blade could present a problem, but again be honest. They'll probably be looking to put the Fear of God into you (them acting all hardass and stuff) and they may even dish out some kind of official reprimand or something like that, but take responsibility for what you are responsible for, and learn a hard-learned life lesson from the whole thing.

As much as I dislike the sometimes "know it ALL" attitude of counselors, I'd say go find a good one, who might help you understand what lies within yourself, which causes you to sabotage you self.
You may not even have the foggiest . . although I believe you have an inkling as to your actions, in this situation.
Nevertheless, seek professional help.
