A portable MP3 player would be quite small, just keep it in your pocket, no one will ask you to pay tax for stuff that you carry in your pocket... like a mobile phone.... And there is a value limit on how much you can carry any way... by the way your question is a lil vague, are you trying to buy it from India and import it? or are you trying to take it with you when you are going to India? Be specific...
