lastnight i was dreaming about going on a very small narrow rope like bridge, it was swinging back and forth. Bellow me was water, waves of water and each step i took i was about to fall. Does this mean anything?

this dream could be symbolic of your inability to rise above your emotional difficulties or unconscious drives.

Dreams are very, very symbolic. Dreaming about a rope bridge probably has nothing to do with an actual rope bridge. It might mean (for example) that you are going through a period in your life where things might be a little tricky, or situations where you might have to be really careful about what you do (remember, you were on a swinging rope bridge and you didn't fall). There could be any number of interpretations. A good, highly credible source to find out about dreams is to find any book(s) on dream analysis by Dr. Carl G. Jung. He was a contemporary of Dr. Sigmund Freud (perhaps you've heard of Freud even if you've never heard of Jung [it's pronounced like "Yung"]).

Freud worked on dream analysis, but his whole drift was either sex or aggression (you either wanted to sleep with someone, or beat them senseless). If you read the history of Freud, you'll find that he backed way off quite a few of his theories because of societal pressure (seduction theory, for example). The beauty of Jung's work is that he NEVER backed off any of his theories, ever.

According to psychologist Sigmund Freud, crossing a bridge (or in your case, rope) indicates sexual intercourse. This links in with the "back and forth" motion. Im not sure what the water indicates exactly though.

Pescado5 is right there with good info. A bridge is a transition period in your life, and you are apparently nervous about it. Whether it really IS tricky and dangerous or not, something in you considers is very important, almost life and death.
Freud's sexual basis of dreams was WAY too narrow.
