Police power is derived from that authority which is given by the citizenry to serve and protect. Certain abuses of that authority occur because police officers are human beings subject to all the frailties that entails. In the 10 years I was in that position I saw far less then most of you can imagine. Most are extremely idealistic when they first come on. That lasts a year or two until they realize a few things. First, they will not be able to contain crime all by themselves. Second, the appreciation levels of the public has always been and will always be low i.e. "Where is one when you need them?" or "I pay your salary." or "Don't you have anything better to do then pull me over-Why don't you go after the real criminials." Third, the support levels you receive from the department will be determined by political situations out of your control. Fourth, Your *** is on the line daily and something you innocently did could (1) get you killed (2) get you maimed for life (3) get you sent to prison or (4) cost you and your family everything in a civil court of law-local, state, or federal. So the next time you see someone patroling your neighborhood or flying down the road with the reds or blues on trying to get to a scene to save a life or find a lost child, think about all he is putting on the line for "YOU." A simple traffic stop has always been a crap shoot-a warning, a citation, or possible injury or instant death. I have attended far too many funerals of buds who left for work after strapping on the gun and badge and never coming home. I personally watched a good kid grow up and take the oath only to have an out of control truck wipe him out on the side of the road while he was helping another accident victim. When that call comes at 1 in the morning on a cold December night, the "glory" of the job just doesn't have much significance anymore. He was only 23.

Never, any police man can do it to use the power & law & order aganst the innocent public. But, it has been seen that,
with a pressure of strongst political parties, they are doing so
with the inncenocent people, today, the police are not the friend of any public or nor doing any helpfull job in the interest of public.
