1. It's just another example of phoney anti-racists coming up with daft ideas. Sadly, these Islington types are all over the place, devising ideas for their better world, at their all-white middle-class dinner parties. Most of them do not even socialise with the people they think they are helping, and so they don't know what is actually required - hence all the tokenist gestures that get inflicted upon us.

2. In the 1990s, I lived in Milton Keynes, which had a free open-air festival, in the summer. The organisers adamantly refused to have a beer tent, because it would deter muslims. So every year they had an alcohol-free festival, but still no muslims. It never occurred to the organisers that if they genuinely wanted to encourage muslims, then they should have moved the musical content of the festival away from one that was almost exclusively blues and rock, and introduced some bands that actually had some Islamic relevance.

3. Personally I am for multiculturalism, but whilst white middle-class liberals control local authorities, voluntary associations and the media, we are always going to get these farcical ideas imposed upon us. They do not take the cause of a multicultural society any further forward - on the contrary they engender ill will and hostility.

Flying flags is a great idea, why, even today I saw a fantastic flag flying near where I live, it was the flag of Owain Glyndwr, it's lots of lions on the flag with the colours yellow and orange, neet! (Owain Glyndwr was the last Welsh leader to whoop the English

We have an allegedly racist group called The British National Party who have comandeered our flag as its own. Therefore the link between those who fly the flag is quite wrongly made. Also our football supporters like to fly it too which also links wrongly to football hooliganism . We also have namby pamby foolish politicians who think we should not be proud of Nationalism and flying our flag because they think it promotes racism. What an idiotic, weak, ineffectual dangerous,money-squandering government we have here in The UK.

First of all the correct term for everyone flying a flag, in their particular country would be "nationalistic", not racist. It has nothing what-so-ever to do with the colour of your skin. It's a national or country thing.

It is bizarre, just like you say. but it is considered that we may be offending the immigrants. I think its taking all sense of pride away from us. I will fly the flag any time I wish to, it`s my Country and I`m proud of it.

this type of questions is starting to get BORING. it is not seen as racist, people are just believing all the crap they read in right wing stupid newspapers like the daily male. i am an ethnic minority in the uk, & i have no prob with the english flag at all, i fly it! i think if people stopped being so afraid of embracing their culture& accepting the differences between cultures instead of trying to mingle it into one, there would be a lot less problems.
