If i want to do the general ed thing at a community college. How soon should i be trying to apply to a university to transfer into? Say i take 15 units per term and three terms per year that would be 45 units in a year, do i need the full 60 units to transfer or can i do a few last 15 units GE classes at the university? Because i dont want to finish my GE units early and have to wait a full semester to transfer, although it would give me time to save some cash now that i think of it. This would be in california by the way.

The most important thing is to identify your transfer school and major, then contact them. Each school will likely have a different application date and in some states where curriculum is not coordinated, they will want you to take certain classes that are not GenEd. For example, Northern Illinois University has a pretty good college of business. In order to enter it as a junior, you must have completed all of your GenEd work PLUS have completed 10 business-related classes. University of Illinois has a completely different requirement. I would suspect it works the same way in California.

IT DEPENDS ON THE EXCLUSIVITY OF THE SCHOOL YOU WANT TO TRANSFER TO, AND YOUR FINANCIAL SITUATION. HOW ARE YOU GOING TO FINANCE THIS EDUCATION ONCE YOU TRANSFER? ALSO, ONE ADVANTAGE AS I SEE IT, IN APPLYING AS SOON AS POSSIBLE IS AVOIDING TAKING COURSES THAT WON'T TRANSFER OR BE USEFUL (credit-wise...all education is useful!) IN YOUR DEGREE PLAN. IN MOST PUBLIC UNIVERSITIES, I BELIEVE YOU CAN TRANFER AT ANY POINT, BUT YOUR STANDING WOULD BE AFFECTED (FRESHMAN VS JUNIOR ETC) WHICH COULD HAVE AN AFFECT ON YOUR COLLEGE EXPERIENCE. IF SAVING MONEY IS A PRIORITY, THEN YOU WOULD WANT TO COMPLETE AS MUCH AS YOU CAN AT THE LOWER COSTS OF THE COMMUNITY COLLEGE. ALSO, SOME UNIVERSITIES WILL ONLY ACCEPT SO MANY TRANSFER CREDITS. EITHER WAY, THE SOONER YOU START, THE SOONER YOU CAN MAKE A PLAN. BY THE WAY, AFTER THE "GENERAL ED THING" DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOU MIGHT WANT TO MAJOR IN ONCE YOU TRANSFER?

Check with the school you want to transfer to about how many are needed till you may transfer. I would do it at least a yr before transferring. You must also be accepted to the school you wish to transfer to. Apply to several. it is cheaper to go to a school in your state as oppossed to out of state also. ALL colleges charge more for out of state tuition.

confident you are able to! it is smart because of the fact it is extra less expensive and extra undemanding! it is likewise possible to graduate and get your friends and then circulate to a school to proceed your bachelors and masters stages i'm doing that now, i'm graduating next semester from an area college. i presumed it could be a foul concept, even in spite of the shown fact that it replaced right into a competent determination for me. i'm no longer encouraging it thoroughly, yet once you sense you choose an elementary and extra less expensive initiate, choose for it! You register there , take middle instructions you choose and the two persist with as a circulate pupil before the beginning up of a sparkling college semester or persist with to circulate precise before you graduate, there could be a circulate place of work in the community college the place you are able to ask extra questions approximately how the technique is achieved :) gl!
