A bunch of people I know keep saying or suggesting that they think I have an eating disorder, or i'm in the "beginning stages" of one. But I don't have one! I'm a healthy weight, i'm 144, 5'4. I mean, don't get me wrong, I've lost 9 lbs, and I'm working on losing another 16 to 21lbs.
I haven't been hungry lately, so instead of feeling tired I made this drink (honey, lemon juice and water) so I'm still getting calories. And I only eat supper.
Then they tell me my dieting is too strict and I'm over exercising! I don't see it as over exercising. I play hockey 6 times a week, and work out in between.
They made a big deal out of it because I ate a bagel and felt bad, so burned off 1000 calories (as I've been doing on a daily basis lately). And it's at the point where my mom has even asked me once or twice if I've stashed my food!
How can I convince people that I don't infact have an eating disorder, I'm not too strict, and I don't over exercise and I'm just not hungry?

for future b*tches that want to answer, i didn't go "Oh I ate a bagel , i'm off to burn 1000 calories" My mom made me eat a bagel, then came down and asked what I was doing an hour later and saw me exercising, then asked how many calories burned.
I didn't plan on telling anyone

Some people just go through stages where you just do not feel hungry.

How many calories do you think is in 'honey, lemon juice and water?' not many. maybe 20 or so.
I think you are beginning to have an eating disorder, your appear to be exercising far too much, just the amount of hockey is enough to keep your heart and body healthy, you do not need to do anymore, most experts say 20mins exercise 3 times a week is enough to keep your body in tip top condition.
One meal a day, is not the way, especially at supper time, that is the worst time to eat, try eating during the day, have a light breakfast, and lunch, if you don't want a evening meal, just have some fruit, but make sure what you eat is well balance.
I do also suggest you go to your doctor for a health check.

It sounds like you may be in the beginning stages of an eating disorder. You are at the top range for a healthy weight at your height. I dont think your weight loss goal is unhealthy or unattainable, but a few of your comments worry me.
Feeling badly about eating one bagel and burning off 1000 calories(which would mean hours of exercise) is not healthy. Nor is eating just one meal a day.
Your stomach empties itself every 5 and a half hours or so. You need protein, fiber vitamins, etc. Though you are getting calories from your drink, you arent getting what you need. Too much sugar can also cause you to crash and burn later.
When you rise in the morning you need at least 250 calories to rev up your metabolism for the rest of the day. This will actually help you burn fat. Also not eating all day will leave you feeling hungry and deprived, and it may actually cause you to eat more.
Please talk to your doctor about a sensible eating plan. You may be able to even get a nutritionist to help you. Im sure you are beautiful just the way you are, but if you do want to tone up and get healthier there are much better ways to do it.

Those people care about you, you should see a doctor about getting on a calorie restricted diet, maybe 1200 to 1800 a day. You should NEVER go below 800 calories - if you go to the library and pick up a book on how the human body works you will see why. It is very dangerous for you. All the systems of your body depend on nutrients you get from food. For example you need calcium ions just to move your muscles (see a book on the nervous system). Unless your supper includes a daily amount of all the nutirents and at least 800 calories you need you are already hurting yourself. Also you should not be excercising so much. Each time you exercise you make tiny tears to your muscles and your cortical bone thickens. You need to give your body a day or so to make these changes and repairs. Its great to loose weight, it sounds like you want to do it fast - but doing fast will just hurt you.

All these folks that say eating only one meal a day is a sign of an eating disorder is sooo wrong. I only eat one meal a day and I don't have an eating disorder. Honey if you feel like you need to loose a little weight then do it. For all those folks that think you do have an eating disorder need to step back and give you a little room. Word of advice though, don't loose too much weight because then you really would have a serious problem.

Sounds like your screaming for attention, if you stop making a big deal out of it so will they. You're right at 5'4" and 144 pounds you sound like you are at a healthy weight, and you wouldn't be able to work out the way you do if you were in any "danger" of an eating disorder.
The "oh I ate a bagel, so now I have to burn a 1000 calories" is really ridiculous and unless you pointed it out how did any one know? I'm sorry but I think you are kind of enjoying the attention. It can be a dangerous game to play with your body and your health, talk to your Dr. (with your Mom) if you are really concerned for her peace of mind.

Based on what you wrote, I dont think you have a eating disorder. I think you are in the right track and you are in control of your body. Congradulation on losing the 9 lbs and doing all the exercises. Keep it up. You may be a little obsessed, just like me, but your just doing what is right for you. For your height, the normal weight should be about 120 pounds. So you can show people that is your ideal weight for your height based on research and the health department and once you reach your ideal weight, then you will slow down your efforts.

Well, I have exactly the same problem! and I sorta found something to shut them up. I just tell them that I feel more confident and more comfortable if I was skinnier. And I just go bitching about what they eat (the people who always say I have an eating disorder) and I keep telling them what they eat is bad for their health...etc. they stopped telling me I have a disorder and instead they're focusing on getting away from me and my bitching LOL. And I also got them convinced that there's nothing about me doing a diet, because I would still be "healthy weight" after I reach my goal weight.
I am 149, 5' 6. My goal weight is 120-130. I would still be healthy weight, unless I get to 111 or less...then they can worry about me :)
Another thing that worked to convince them is that I started doing yoga and I tell them that I need to be thinner to be able to do the poses...they believe me LOL.
I also suggest you show them your BMI...it would be a good proof to prove to them that you're in a healthy weight :) http://www.cdc.gov/nccdphp/dnpa/bmi/

I would say you have an eating disorder BUT if you are excersining this much your body NEEDS more nutrition and energy!! eat wether you feel hungry or not! its not about "getting calories" it about having essential nutrients put into your body. If you keep eating this way your body will start to shut down as its lacking everything it needs to survive!!! eating once per day will only put your body into "starvation mode" so it'll hold on to all the fat it can because its not being fed enough and thinks your in a famine or something! Dont be stupid girl this is not about how you look but the health of your mind and body. eating 3 healthy meals per day and two snacks will keep your body at peak physical condition. you have probably "shrunken" your stomach by not eating but you need to force yourself (dont eat heaps!) just little bits more often. good luck but i think your friends have a really good reason to be worried about you!!

Well, maybe you are a bit obsessive about it. I'd say lay off on counting calories. It's fine to only eat when you are hungry, but you might wan to eat breakfast in addition to supper. Also, don't feel bad about eating a bagel cause they have WAY less than a 1000 calories, so...
